What A Dumb Ass!

Actually I should thank him for pretty much killing his chances of ever becoming president with that ridiculous remark! He is even dumber for not apologizing directly to the troops for his insulting remarks. As a veteran, I am personally offended. I made a well informed decision to join the military, just like all recruits do. I enlisted for the education benefits, just like many recruits do. I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for the military, just like many other veterans.

What John Kerry can't seem to get through his thick Herman Munster skull is that today's military is VOLUNTARY!!!! Contrary to popular liberal belief, recruitment goals have been met and surpassed across all services. The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Guard serving are a part of the highest educated and best trained fight force that the world has ever seen.

When he made those remarks he was disrespectful to those that do chose the Military over other options, like flipping burgers, collecting welfare checks, or even resorting to a life of crime. He insulted the many men and women that join the military after pursuing four year degrees because they WANT to serve their country. He insulted the many people that join the military to EARN money for college. Worst of all he insulted the men and women now serving in the military, ironically the same people that are providing and protecting his right to free speech.

Keep putting your foot in your mouth John Kerry......

A Bittersweet Day

I attended the memorial ceremony yesterday for CW2 Scott Dyer. Scott was a Special Forces soldier and Special Forces Ceremonies are even more special than your typical military ceremony because there is a lot of tradition involved. Even if you hadn't known him, you could tell by the amount of people that came to show their love and support, that Scott was a great man, and a man of great character. They had a beautiful montage of pictures of him with his friends and family. I had to laugh because almost every picture had him holding a drink of some sort. One of the most heart wrenching moments was when one of the little neighbor girls went up to sing Amazing Grace, the poor thing broke down in tears but was so brave she started singing it over from the beginning, this time the whole church joined with her. They also played the Ballad of the Green Beret. They played this song every morning to wake us up at Jump School, and we would make up silly words to it, never again will I think of this song in the same way, the words have new meaning to me:

Fighting soldiers from the sky
Fearless men who jump and die
Men who mean just what they say
The brave men of the Green Beret.

Silver Wings upon their chest
These are men, America's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret.

Trained to live off nature's land
Trained in combat, hand to hand
Men who fight by night and day
Courage picked from the Green Beret.

Silver Wings upon their chest
These are men, America's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret.

Back at home a young wife waits
Her Green Beret has met his fate
He has died for those oppressed
Leaving her his last request.

Put Silver Wings on my son's chest
Make him one of America's best
He'll be a man they'll test one day
Have him win the Green Beret.

The last part of the military memorial ceremony is roll call. For me this is the hardest part. They call the soldiers names of the unit and then the fallen soldiers name. His name is repeated several times as he can not answer, then the guns fire.

It was a beautiful ceremony, many of America's bravest and finest were in that church and it is a very humbling experience to see these brave warriors shed a tear for their fallen comrade.

After the ceremony in true Dyer Family format, there was a large party in their back yard, and even though it is the end of October, people were out there barefooting! It was a fitting tribute to a man who loved to hang out in his back yard with family and friends.

God Speed Scott Dyer

It's been a rough week. Last Thursday night as I was volunteering for the local March of Dimes Charity evening, I received a call from my husband letting me know that our dear friend and neighbor CWO Scott Dyer had been killed in action in Afghanistan. He leaves behind a beautiful wife and two young children. He was a great friend, father, husband, son, and brother. In this painful time his widow still thinks of others as she has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations are made to the Carolina Lakes Property Owners Association - Scott Dyer memorial fund to go towards building new children recreation equipment at our Marina. That is the type of people that they, are caring about others. (if you would like to donate please let me know and I will forward the address)

Some may say that he didn't die for a good cause, but he didn't beleive that and I don't either, he loved what he was doing and everyone that puts on a uniform everyday understands that it is possible you may have to give the ultimate sacrifice. All gave some, some gave all.

God Speed Scott Dyer, My American Hero.

What's the deal?

Ok, so I wore a suit and heels to work today. I've been asked like 3 times today what was the special occasion or if I had an interview. I guess they are all trying to tell me that I normally dress like a slob :) Well what's wrong with jeans on days other than Friday's?

Is it time to go home yet?

Well today has been kind of boring. I had to work yesterday because according to my company Columbus Day isn't a real holiday, I would tend to agree but obviously the post office and the bank need an extra day off, like Sunday wasn't enough? It was nice and quiet at work though, I got a lot done. No phone calls or interruptions. My day care was closed so I got to drive my Jeep to work, that always makes me smile. This morning was pretty busy, but I got everything done by lunch time. Maybe I should procrastinate more. So now I have nothing better to do than read and write blogs! Don't tell my supervisor! Oh yeah, I'm the adult supervision! Scary! Anyway, I've been reading some pretty good blogs today. LMAO at http://www.samanthaburns.com/ Sam's Carlin Joke list. Then I went over to http://123beta.blogspot.com/ Butch's site. Good reading there too.

I have decided that I'm going to attempt to make my blog as a-political as possible because I tend to p**s people off with my political views. You should know that I grew up a Navy Brat in Virginia and then spent the beginning of my adult life in the Army. So yes I am pro military, but as long as you support the troops first, I don't care what your opinion on the war is.

Anyway, I get to be involved in a March of Dimes Charity event on Thursday. I'm really excited because I get to dress up! I think that I get excited about dressing up because of all the years I spent in the Army, dressing up meant wearing that ugly green Class A uniform. And since I was a paratrooper, I wasn't allowed to wear my skirt, I had to wear the pants bloused out over my Jump boots and don't forget that lovely red beret! Not a very sexy outfit for a young lady. So I really like it when I get to wear a dress! So anyway I will be volunteering at the Chef's Auction. It's supposed to be like a $200 a plate and then big prizes get auctioned off. All the well to do society of Fayetteville are supposed to be there too, like all 10 of them. I'm just kidding. There's more like 15.

Well that just killed 30 minutes......

I'm Calling BS on this one!

Ok, I'll admit it. I watch a lot of TV. I'm kind of addicted to reality TV. My Tivo(s) yes I have two, have smoke coming out of them on some nights. Blame Survivor, actually blame the first MTV Real World. I don't watch the Bachelor anymore though, that got really old, and really weird. Anyway, I started watching Celebrity Fit club this year since it had some folks on there that I actually recognized, like Carnie Wilson, and Tina Yothers. Anyway, all the ladies but one on the show have all had a baby in the last year or so and still had some baby weight to lose, I can certainly relate. Well the season gets to the last 2 shows and Tina Yothers comes on there and get weighed at like 164 lbs, and she is 5'6". She stands there and says she is wearing pair of size 8 jeans and they are loose. I'm going to have to throw out the BS flag here. I was a size 8 before I got pregnant and I weighed around 140 and I am also 5'6". I got up to 195 lbs this pregnancy and I didn't fit into a size 8 again until I was around 140 lbs again. When I weighed 164 lbs I barely fit into a size 12! This really urks me because they should be proud of the weight that they did lose and not lie about their size, either that or I want to shop where she is, so I'll be a size 2.

See I told you all I have no life ;P

Thank God for Tank Tops and Walmart!

Well today did not start off very well, but it sure started off early! The baby woke up hungry at 3:30 and didn't really go back to sleep until almost 5, so of course I never really went back to sleep either. The alarm clock woke us up at 5:45 and I so wanted to hit snooze! The day seemed to be getting back on track until I got to day care. I got her out of her seat and got a whiff of stinkyness. Get her into her room and let them know that she was dirty, so of course they have me change her. That's when I noticed, we were both covered in poo. Great. I took me at least 15 wipes to clean her up, it was from her toes to her armpits! I finally get her all cleaned up with the help of one of the day care workers and got a clean sheet of paper under her to get her diaper on. Then she looks up and smiles at me....And then pees. So now she has pee up to her shoulder blades! At least I hadn't gotten her clothes on yet! At this point I'm like, lets just hose her off in the sink. Finally 15 minutes later after the ordeal started, she is dry and in clean clothes, her last pair. So it's 800 already and I 'm late for work, but I have poo on my shirt and it is starting to stink. Fortunately this morning I decided to wear a tank top under my blouse. The girls haven't gotten back down to normal size yet since the baby and it makes my blouses gape so I get a little self conscious about it since they (the blouses) have a habit of just popping open, like DL (one of my cohorts in crime at work) would quote from A League of their Own "My Bosoms are popping out!" So anyway I get back into my car and take off my blouse and again fortunately I have my light jacket with me. Well Walmart is just a few minutes up the road from work so I just went there instead of heading all the way home. So I walk into walmart wearing a tank top and a jacket, I felt like a street walker. So I pick out a new blouse and some replacement clothes for the baby, since all of hers have poo on them too. I get out to the car and take of my jacket and change into the blouse, just then I notice a young soldier in the car across from me checking out what's going on. He probably thought I was a street walker, or was just happy to get an eyeful. The day can only get better.....I hope.

You Know the World is Really Getting Screwed up when there is a Shooting at an Amish School

Need I say more? Well actually I want to add, there have been too many school shootings in the recent weeks. Maybe if we didn't televise them so much, people wouldn't get the idea to go shoot up a school full of innocent kids?!?

It's About Time!

Ok, I've had this blog for almost a month now, and this is only the 6th time I have written. I want to thank Clint for being my first visitor!!! So the last 3 weeks have been pretty boring, and I don't want to bore all ya'll with my boring life! I get up in the mornings, go to work, come home, watch some TV, and then go to bed. Actually I'm pretty busy at home, so I like that I actually get a chance to relax and hang out at work sometimes! I do like my job, but somedays there just isn't a whole lot to do, like today. I don't know if I said this in my original post, but I have worked in the same 5 mile radius since January of 1997.

Anyway, I had an excellent weekend. Friday started off slow, my cohort in crime at work left early so I had nobody to BS with. After work I went to a friend of mine's Retirement Dinner at the Mash House. Man I love their beer! It was really great because I got to see a lot of old friends that I hadn't seen in a long time. It was bitter-sweet because it's great to see these people but you know it will be a long time before you see them again. I kind of boo hooed when I got home I was so sad, or it could of been because of the last shot of really cheap vodka that I chugged. I got to the point where I knew I had one too many, why can't you ever get the feeling that the next one will be the one that will push you over the edge? Wouldn't that be nice!

Saturday, Carrie and I went to go get her pictures taken, she is soooooo cute! Of course I'm prejudiced about it, she's my daughter! Then I introduced her to shopping around the mall! We spent lots of money! That's my girl! Saturday night was pretty cool, we got invited to Charlie Good Nights Comedy club up in Raleigh to see the guy that won the 3rd Season of last comic standing. He was really good, so was the guy before him, but I don't remember his name. Anybody know why they didn't show the season finale on TV?

Well Sunday was pretty laid back, Ian and I went for a ride on the Jetski for a little while, trying to get it in while we can, I hate it when Summer ends!

Monday morning we got to sleep in for a little while, had to take the Kitties to the vet appointment. We just switched to a new vet that is a lot closer, but since this was their first visit, they didn't want them sedated. Yes I have to get my cat's stoned to get them into their little carrier boxes. So this morning we had to do it with out the help of depressants in their system. It ended up being a lot easier than usual. Usually one of them cr*p* all over the place and then they howl in their boxes. The funniest thing as that when it is all over with, instead of being mad at us, they get mad at each other. Weird.

Remembrance

From the moment that I saw that second plane hit the World Trade Center, I knew our lives had changed forever. In one fleeting second we lost our innocence and at the same time we opened our eyes.

I mourn for those we lost that day as well as all the service members that have made the ultimate sacrifice to avenge 9/11 and prevent it from happening again.

Never Forget.......

Man My Daughter is Tall!

So we took our daughter for her 6 month check up today. She is in the 97th percentile for height! I guess she gets it from her 6ft 6in father! I'm going to be dwarfed by both my children by the time they are 10! My son is pretty big for a 5 year old too, we share socks.

Man I hate watching my baby getting shots, I think I cried more than she did! I think I'll let Daddy take her to her 1 year check up.

Why I Started this Blog

I started this blog just so that my name can have a link on it when I play and hopefully win Dead Guy on the Side Bar. I'm going to blame the two ladies that I work with for getting me hooked on this game :)
